Live Mixing
With live mixing tasks we try our best to transfer the live performance of the bands and musicians “sonically” in the best possible manner to the audience.
With such a task it is important that the instruments are picked up correctly and that all techniques are correctly applied for example the power cabling, the usage of DI boxes to avoid ground loops, correct microphone techniques for acoustic instruments, avoiding feedback by appropriate stage planning and placement of monitors etc...
Moreover, the monitor mix for which a second sound engineer is really useful, is supposed to create a comfortable atmosphere on stage which is necessary for the musicians to provide the best possible performance to the audience. In order to play well together the musicians need to be able to hear each other and their own instruments.
From experience this is one of the most important issues with "amplified" live music. Musicians usually tend to complain that they were unable to hear themselves or other instruments. As Carsten is a guitarist and singer a well, he can fully understand the problem and puts all efforts in to ensure a good monitor mix.
