Control Room
Since early 2013, the Audio Cavern is equipped with one of the most modern studio consoles in the professional audio industry which is a 24-channel analog mixing desk of manufacturer AMS Neve Ltd. (Burnley, England), who shapes and influences audio technology for more than 40 years significantly. For the time being, this legendary console only exists once in Luxembourg and represents one of the unique characteristics of the Audio Cavern studio.
Audio Cavern uses Avid | Pro Tools 11.x HDX which can be seen as the worldwide standard platform for audio recording guaranteeing engineer and musicians a latency free tape return monitoring, in order to judge the quality of the recorded material.
The outboard rack contains beside a Lexicon reverberation FX device, two 16 Input/Output Avid HD I/O 16x16 audio interfaces by which a simultaneous recording of 32 tracks is possible, whereas 24 can be fed from the high-end-mic-preamps (1073) of the Neve console. For mix-down 48 analogue input channels are available, whereas the Pro Tools System is able to handle 256 tracks at a sample rate of 48kHz. At a sample rate of 192kHz the track count lies at a sufficient number of 64 tracks.
In addition to that, we own a well-selected number of software plug-ins and instruments of renowned manufacturers such as Celemony, Native Instruments, Focusrite, Waves, Sonnox etc… Thanks to the very efficient cabling, as an example, it is possible for guitarists to sit in the control room next to the sound engineer and to record their takes while the guitar cabinet is located in another room driven at its high performance level over “speaker lines”. The guitar amplifier at the same time can be located in the control room with the guitarist allowing adjustment of the guitar sound.
This can simplify the communication between the sound engineer, producer and the guitarist and improve the final result.
The control room is equipped with a powerful LG air-condition, which can be operated in different modes (cooling, fresh air, heating and dehumidify), in order to create the working environment as comfortable as possible for everyone.
